Hanoi → Cairo · 7,426 km

Five ways to cross the same distance. These are the app’s own cruising speeds, so the vehicle you choose is genuinely the difference between arriving tonight and arriving after lunch.

Pick two points

Anywhere on Earth — your own street and a city you have never seen, or two places you miss at the same time.

Choose the vehicle

The app tells you the distance as the crow flies and how long that vehicle needs, before you commit to it.

Close the app

The journey carries on without you. There is nothing to watch, nothing to tap and no streak to keep.

Come back and look

See how far you have gone, what the weather is doing where you currently are, and read the guide for wherever you have reached.

What the journey records

Nothing about you, and everything about where you have been. The app keeps a travel document rather than a profile.

Travel notes

The things worth knowing before you pick a first destination.

Does Pocket Odyssey use my real location?
No, and not "no by policy" — the app ships with no location permission at all, on either iOS or Android. Every journey is simulated from the two places you pick, which is why it is rated safe for all ages.
Is Pocket Odyssey free?
Yes, free to download and use. It is supported by ads served through Google AdMob.
Do I need to create an account?
No. On first launch the app makes an anonymous account for your device so your trips and stamps survive a restart. It never asks for a name, email, or phone number.
How long does a journey actually take?
As long as it really would. Each vehicle flies its own cruising speed along the true geodesic line, so Hanoi to Cairo — 7,426 km — is 9h 17m by magic carpet and still 1h 04m by rocket. You close the app and come back later.
Which vehicles can I travel in?
Five: magic carpet, commercial jet, fighter jet, supersonic jet, rocket — at 800, 900, 2,000, 3,300, 7,000 km/h respectively.
Is Pocket Odyssey on Android?
Not yet. It is iPhone and iPad only for now, and needs iOS 15.0 or later.
Where do the place descriptions and photos come from?
Guide text is generated by an AI language model, reference photography comes from Unsplash and Wikimedia Commons, place names come from OpenStreetMap, and live weather comes from Apple WeatherKit.
